British Columbia is seriously considering introducing a special wildlife tax to better manage and protect moose and other wild game which have been steadily declining in numbers in the Canadian province in recent years due to over hunting and industrial encroachment. I’m a staunch believer that government taxes need to be levied to preserve and protect wildlife living in their natural environment. Only through political intervention and ongoing government funding does wildlife have a future at all living in wilderness. While wildlife organisations are doing their best to fund environmental and ecological initiatives through public appeals and donations, money needs to be allocated indefinitely by governments for the sole purpose of sustaining animals living in wilderness. If government taxes can be collected on most goods and services, then there should be no argument about taxes being used to help sustain natural habitat which we all enjoy. I feel confident that the general public wouldn’t begrudge an evironmental levy that protects animals living in the wild.
